Already travelling along the first curves of the provincial road that leads to Passo della Serra, the visitor is conquered by the singular beauty of this part of the Irpinia land that divides the Sabato valley from the Calore valley; a land known for millennia for the cultivation of the vine to which it is naturally suited; and it is here on the Serra di Montemiletto, at about 550 metres above sea level, that the Tenuta del Meriggio lies, in the centre of which the modern cellar has been placed.
The modern cellar was built according to the principles of environmental sustainability: the production of sanitary water and electricity is satisfied, during the day, by thermal and photovoltaic panels and the rainwater is stored in a small lake where the wastewater filtered by a complex phytodepuration system is also conveyed; the large winemaking room is equipped with innovative systems and stainless steel containers, all thermo-regulated;
The barrel cellar was created in the underground part of the building, covered by a green roof and with humidity guaranteed by a wall kept constantly wet by water that filters from the ground. These measures, together with the silence and the absence of vibrations, allow the aging and conservation of wines in large oak barrels and in fine tonneaux.
